Amazon.co.uk Review
No one can accuse a singer who titles her first solo record emThe Fameem /em/emof hiding her motives, and as an exercise designed to make a pop star out of the woman previously known as Stefani Joanne Germanotta, it succeeds perfectly. There is plenty more to Germanotta than the super-stylised, cosmetically reworked face she presents to the world. For all the Paris Hilton-esque bimbo role-playing, Lady GaGa is a product of New Yorkrsquo;s knowing downtown art/dance scene. So itrsquo;s no surprise to find that emThe Fame/em is a witty take on contemporary pop values, at times cruelly sarcastic ("Paparazzi" blatantly flirts with the same snappers who drove Britney over the brink). Itrsquo;s as shameless as Pussycat Dolls (she has already penned tunes for them), as crass and kiddie-friendly as anything Black-Eyed Peas might concoct, and as generation-defying as her obvious inspiration Madonna. In short, emThe Fame/em is built to sell, and tunes like the chart-topping single "Just Dance", the amusingly stupid "Boys Boys Boys" (supposedly a tribute to Motley Cruersquo;s equally dumb "Girls Girls Girls") and the brutal materialism of "Money Honey", "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich" and the title track seduce the ear rather than impress the intellect. Smarter than it first appears, emThe Fame/em might be the start of a long and interesting career or it could prove to be a flash in the pan, but itrsquo;s easy to tell why it sells. --emSteve Jelbert/embr /

5 out of 5 stars A 2009 Must Have Album!!   December 31, 2008

This is a DEFINATE must have album for 2009!it is so refreshing and new, with most tracks having an electronic vibe to them, then there is the more upbeat song "eh eh (nothing else i can say)" and the slow tempo track "brown eyes" br / br /i actually couldn't wait the long month for it to be released in the UK so had it imported from the US and so glad i did!!the UK version has two bonus tracks on it which are "disco heaven*" and "again again*"...to be honest the bonus track i got with my american import (which is called "Starstruck*" featuring Space Cowboy and Flo Rider) is much better than both of the UK bonus tracks and a definate download! br / br /*all three are available to download from the mp3 store on amazon.co.uk from the 11/01/2009The Fame

5 out of 5 stars Lady GaGa Is Surly Getting In The Fame   March 13, 2009

Lady GaGa this year made a shocking debut with "Just Dance" and is currently extending her success with the internation number 1 "Poker Face". I knew about GaGa before her debut by seeing her name over lots of music websites and i started longing for the day i'd get the album for myself and now i have. Every track is a amazing song but there are certain one's i think could make it big, well we know "LoveGame" will be released (hopefully here) because of it's video and all "Eh Eh" (Hopefully here) but we also have the busty ballad "Paparazzi" and then "I Like It Rough" the brilliant upbeat song and then we have "StarStruck" with GaGa's two sidekicks (Flo-Rida Space Cowboy) and then the brilliantly outrageous "Beautiful Dirty Rich" All Together the album is fantastic.

5 out of 5 stars Gimme Gimme GaGa Heels !   January 17, 2009
The Wolf (uk)

There is a raw excitement trembling and reverberating through br /the trees and brambles of The Wild Wood tonight. br /The harsh frosts and bitter winds of early January are br /receding rapidly in its' wake. br / br /Becky Barn Owl and Foxy DeWitt were both resoundingly right. br / br /Lady GaGa is indeed a new force of nature to be reckoned with. br / br /That we have received such a gift so early in 2009 should be br /read as nothing less than a powerful portent of good things br /to come in the months ahead. Something to make the unfolding br /miasma of social and economic hardship a little easier to bear. br / br /'The Fame' is perhaps one of the most vibrant debuts to have br /crossed the threshold of The Wolfcave in the past year or so. br / br /Ms Germanotta is to be warmly congratulated. br /This generous collection of sixteen sparky and sprightly br /electropop gems is a complete joy. br /The predominantly drum-loop and synthesizer led compositions br /wink affectionately at the past whilst simultaneously injecting a br /sometimes weary genre with a much needed burst of new life. br / br /The vocal arrangements display a thoughtful and subtle complexity br /which belie the relative simplicity and economy of the musical ideas. br / br /'Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)', for example, is probably one of the br /most gorgeous pop songs that you will be likely to hear this year. br / br /Before and after it many more delights to be savoured. br / br /'Just Dance' is a terrific opener. The loping rhythm and killer chorus br /immediately had Scatty and Gritz (The Cubs) singing and dancing along. br /I'm pretty sure I even caught Mrs Wolf grudgingly tapping a toe in the br /kitchen whilst preparing this evening's rabbit stew! br / br /Other classy contenders include the rumbustious 'Boys Boys Boys'; br /the unwittingly saucy 'Love Game' ( what is the "disco stick" upon which br /this young lady wishes to ride ? ); 'I Like It Rough' packs an ambiguous br /and disturbing emotional punch and the hilarious 'Poker Face', where we br /are invited to witness our fearless heroine "bluffin' with my (her!) muffin". br /Final "bonus track" 'Again Again' with its' more conventional br /instrumental, band-led, arrangement delivers a powerful and br /satisfyingly truncated conclusion. br / br /Our Lady can sing. No doubt about that. Blonde becomes her. br / br /Her thanks to Mr Warhol (even though barely a year old when he died) br /would doubtless have been appreciated and preserved in Polaroid br /splendour were he still with us. br /( I have a feeling, however, that this release may well deliver br /more than the traditionally allocated fifteen minutes of fame ). br / br /The nod to Ms Ciccone may be less well received by Her Madgesty. br /( The allegiance of New York's twenty-something males br /will certainly be put to the test ! ) br / br /Mr RedOne serves the project well throughout, as does br /Mr Herbert's allegedly executive production. br / br /A cracking and crackling little album. br / br /Highly recommended. br / br /( In Memoriam - Eartha Mae Kitt, 1927 - 2008 ).

5 out of 5 stars "This ones gonna be big!"   October 6, 2008

I was at the Isle of MTV concert in Malta this year and Lady Gaga came onstage before OneRepublic, Enrique, The Kooks and N.E.R.D. My friends and I looked at each other wondering "Who's this chick!?!?!?" br /We were filled with resentment of the fact that she was delaying us seeing the "real stars" - until she opened her mouth that is. br /"I. Am. Lady. Gaga!" br /And we fell in love. br /So here I am now, first chance I get to buy her album, I'm doing so. br /She's new. She's talented. She's original. She's alternative. br /As soon as we heard her first song, 'Just Dance', we knew she was gonna be big. She has brought a whole new 21st century personality to the music industry. Buy this album, I promise you wont be disappointed!!! br /
