5 out of 5 stars A musical treat   January 3, 2009

Stiles Drewe are two of Britain's most successful musical theatre composers and this CD brings together a collection of their best songs, especially highlighting their talent for humour in their writing. This is a live recording but the quality of the production and the standard of the performances from a cast of West End stars mean you would never know if it wasn't for the audience applause. The highlight of the CD is the chance to hear songs from their upcoming original musical Soho Cinders, especially the beautiful Wishing For The Normal. Gareth Gates really shines in the lead role, leaving his reality TV beginnings far behind him - I hope we get the chance to see him perform when the show is properly staged.

5 out of 5 stars A heaped spoonfull of talent   September 7, 2009
Mr. Antony R. Paddon (Cornwall UK)
What a show to have missed!!! Thank goodness for this C.D. showcasing an impressive line-up of talent. I can't wait for a production of "Soho Cinders" to come into the Westend. Three of the tracks on this album are from this (as-yet) un-performed show and include the hilarious "It's hard to tell" ; a beautifully sung duet "Gypsies in the Ether" by "Wicked" star Oliver Tompsett and "Joseph" star Gareth Gates;and a heart-rending solo "They don't make glass slippers" by Gareth Gates. If you like show-tunes past- present- and future by the cream of Londons West-end then this album is for you.
