..polarize me, sensitize me, criticize me, compensate me, complicate me, elivate me and please ANIMATE me....!!- Oh, it's from Rush (Than believes the Rush -text Madonna or my speaker-system believes in this regart to CELEBRATION) - Thank you Madonna for your long, creativ, trendsetting activity and thank you WB for the good over-lable best-off...
br /The remastering sound is very powerful, detailed all over the 5.1 Channel (the remastering in only in 2.0 - so what?! - only steeereeeooo - so what?! - the sound is amazing fresh multi-channel-like!!! Also the old songs (Madonnas first single from 1983 for the UK-Market in Mai was "Everybody") are sound-dynamic-young-fresh like 2009- SACD-multi-channel... - okay, sometimes the fading-in-fading-off between the songs is like from the "Cutting-Crew" - so what?! - All sounds not "Miles away" but rather as "Holiday" on a "La Isla Bonita" - And pur commerce - so what?! Then don't buy it simply not (sorry, very good english)- there are existing worse commercial-delict's...-Madonna doesn't need your money, but we need your music-confession-on-a-dance-floor
br /Madonna,the trendsetting pop-icon since the Middle Ages (I remember the last "Wetten-Das"-Show here in Germany in 2006 regarding the Confession-Tour- she came in the FFM-studio with a new kind of "Lackstiefel" - and 1 week later, our Girlies and also our women at work went over our "Königsallee" in Dusseldorf with the same special "Lackstiefel"- the confession of good trendsetting taste...
br /Is there any performer to be able to recover an old existing music-sequence(Hung-Up-Adba)without to believe the song is abstract from an other location - American Pie (from DonMcLean 1971) -where is the song - oh, I understand, a constitutional problem of new remastering-announcement - Long live (not Rock`N`Roll)the fee-arrangements...
br /4 stars for the composing of the songs
br /4 stars for the fading-in-fading-off between
br /5 stars for the exelent new sound engineering - powerful and channel authenticly
br /5 stars for the good styling of the douple-cd-cover (popart and informativ concerning the roods of the songs) and the complete song-texts behind the creenprint-head of Madonna (you mast have good eyes to read it during the sing along..) if you can't sing it out off your memory like myself...
br /5 stars for Madonna and Thank you for your music...

Classic Recollection of the Queen of Pop's Career...thus far September 4, 2009 BA Wilson (Johannesburg, SOUTH AFRICA) 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful account of Madonna's singles discography, although all the chosen tracks could never possibly please any die-hard fan. Some would ask for remixes; some would ask for a triple disc...and all complaints would be worthy, for Madonna has produced more than 60 major hits since "Everybody" burst onto the scene in 1982, and has dominated the dance scene seemingly forever and a day.
br /
br /I note some surprising omissions, including the #1 hit "True Blue", which Madonna seems intent on deleting from her musical repository. I wish I knew why. Perhaps because the song was about Sean Penn? No, this could not be the case, as "Miles Away" has been included in the track-list, and this is about Guy Ritchie! Other notable omissions include "Causing a Commotion", "Gambler" (which many had hoped would eventually find its way onto a Madonna album) and "Deeper Deeper", to mention but a few. However, where these are inadvertently absent, we are all rewarded in the form of "Who's That Girl" and "Dress You Up" - at long last! I can't help but feel a bit surprised to see tracks such as "Sorry" and "Burning Up" making the cut. Neither were major hits in the sales category, yet they have succeeded in bumping the likes of "True Blue" and "Deeper Deeper" off the radar!
br /
br /I can only imagine the pain of having to narrow the collection down to 34 tracks from such a variety of jewels, and having to bump a few more off to make way for 2 new tracks, the one of which, "Celebration", is Madonna a' la classiqué. It will most certainly make it to #1 on the dance charts but, as we've witnessed over the years gone by, such awesome tracks have failed to crack the coveted spot on the Top 100 or Adult Contemporary charts. It's a conspiracy, I tell you!
br /
br /All-in-all, this double-CD provides the fan and the music lover with a chronology of pop, rock, disco, electro-synth, dance, rap, funk - you name it! There is a hit from every album, with "Madonna - The First Album" winning the singles stakes - 5 tracks have been included in this greatest hits package. The track-listing is a wonderful summary of the musical successes garnered by the Queen (now "King") of Pop. Madonna can hold her head high insofar as her musical genius and accomplishments over the last 3 decades are concerned! Very few artists could boast such a variety of musical trinkets and such a sustained level of success over a period of almost 30 years. Madonna certainly is one of the most talented musicians of our time, and the "Celebration - Greatest Hits" compilation mirrors this awe-inspiring achievement.

br /I purchased the deluxe edition after reading all the information on Amazon about the variations of this collection that were available.
br /It is excellent value for money and a must for all madonna fans.
br /Despite postal problems, this still turned up within a couple of days - so excellent service!
When do we get the single version of "True Blue"??? August 17, 2009 Jan Vervoort (Haacht, Belgium) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a very good collection. Why? Because it contains several single versions from the first years of Madonna's career that were never on cd before or very hard to find. A number of big hits are missing on these 2 discs, but when an artist has had so many singles and top hits, that's inevitable. And most of the missing hits are in the single version or in a version that's very similar to the original single edit on the albums.
br /
br /The only problem I have with this Madonna compilation (and it's the third already!) is that again "True Blue" is missing! And that's not all: when do we get the original single version of that fine hit??? I even have a box with 40 Madonna singles on CD-single that only was released in Japan and "True Blue" was on it, but in the LP-version. Even on the Holiday Collection you find the album version of "True Blue". And the fact is that the single cut of "True Blue" is not similar at all to the album track: it's not only totally different mixed, but it's almost an other song!
br /
br /But overall: this is a very fine collection of old and new Madonna songs.
Madonna-The Queen Of Pop, Join The CELEBRATION!!! September 6, 2009 S. J. Pinder (Cornwall,UK) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Madonna Ciccone is truely the most unique an entertainer can possibly be, she has given more hits than any other artist can ever achieve, starred in iconic roles (Evita being the most famous!) reflected artistic ability through dance and rocking it all out in music video's that will forever have an impact on the world!!
br /Madonna has inspired me through her music and she has become an idol of mine and reflects in her music that we are all capable of doing something great, that's a truly beautiful thing.
br /Across three decades she has released 20 albums (Celebration being Madge's 21st) and reflected a different re-invention every single time, giving birth to new trends, expanding her artistic abilities and giving us new sounds to admire and Madonna takes us on for the whole ride!! from her grand debut through to her phenomenal Hard Candy she has collected many fans along the way establishing herself as something of a pop cultural legend.
br /Many of Madonna's songs have shown a reflection of her growth as an artist, her personal life and her way forward in life.
br /Her lyrics have become something of study in media studies across the globe (Like A Virgin, Papa Don't Preach, Like A Prayer and Erotica being examples of study in literature) , her mate Quentin Tarantino also made a major reference to like A Virgin in his debut film Reservoir Dogs!!
br /Madonna has inspired millions of people across the globe and at the moment is the most played artist here in the UK.
br /
br /By reflecting this brings to mind why it must have been so hard to choose a select 34 hit songs from a catalogue of over double the amount, many favorites are missing but the songs here are the core and most revolutionary of her career.
br /Miles Away was a theme tune in Japanese drama Changes which is why it's included on here, and the reason why there are more songs from the 80's are due to this being the era that certified her as a cultural phenomenon.
br /
br /I cannot chose a precise favorite as i love Madonna's music so much but papa Don't Preach was the first video i ever saw of Madonna and the rest....history!
br /i loved the Like A Prayer, Erotica and Confessions On A Dancefloor albums (in my opinion) the most due to this being Madonna at her artistic height an her creativity really flourished with these albums showing a deep knowledge within her creativity within her music and shaping her direction in the industry as a whole with a vast range of detail within her music that many cannot achieve, these three are her most mature music wise recordings with astonishing songs and glorifying the simplicity of each album proving each to be epic yet personal, these three albums show the true Madonna be it in controversial light or amass with the world these are golden albums and a treasure to music.
br /Like A Virgin,True Blue, Ray Of Light and Hard Candy come just behind as these are so very diverse productions and are major landmarks of her career, each album being a significant point in her life on Madonna's journey with contrasting themes of fun and love through her spiritual connections towards her music and exhibits her total control of her music as a whole and each record holds her most significant hits be it with major producers or within the indie wave the result is priceless.
br /Hard Candy brought about the highest grossing world tour ever (Sticky Sweet)! and her highest album sales in first week for years! and is currently one of the biggest selling albums of 2008!
br /
br /career overview-(in brackets are the singles included on Celebration)
br /
br /Madonna-5/5 (Borderline,Lucky Star, Holiday, Everybody and Burning Up)
br /Like A Virgin-5/5(Like A Virgin, Material Girl, Into The Groove,Crazy For You and Dress You Up!!)
br /True Blue-5/5(Papa Don't Preach, Live To Tell, Open Your Heart, La Isla Bonita and Who's That Girl(from the motion picture))
br /Like A Prayer-5/5 (Like A Prayer, Express Yourself, Cherish,(from I'm Breathless) Vogue,(TIC) Justify My Love)
br /Erotica-5/5 (Erotica is unfortunately the only single from the album on here but sensational beyond belief!!)
br /Bedtime Story-4/5 (Secret, Take A Bow)
br /Ray Of Light-5/5 (Frozen, Ray of Light (from Austin Powers 2 soundtrack)Beautiful Stranger)
br /Music-5/5 (Music, Don't Tell Me)
br /American Life-4.5/5 (Die Another Day, Hollywood)
br /Confessions On A Dancefloor- 5/5 (Hung Up, Sorry)
br /Hard Candy-5/5 (4 Minutes, Miles Away)
br /
br /Celebration is an amazing feel good dance number and although not revolutionary its really cool and extremely catchy boasting fantastic House beats reminiscent of Vogue and Deeper and Deeper while Revolver sounds really urban and dancey which is what i love with Madonna giving vocals not heard since Like A Virgin making it seem very nostalgic and fun while Lil' Wayne adds the quality with fantastic supporting vocals.
br /overall this greatest hits makes for a great package and is a must have for core fans and those without Madonna's material makes for a great taster of all her albums.
