Let's keep this simple. br / br /Freed from the constraining ambition and/or manipulation br /to conform with current American pseudo-urban trends br /Ms Furtado has released a career-defining album. br /Truly her best album by a mile. br / br /She is to be congratulated. Releasing a Spanish-language br /recording comes with attendant risks - not least of all br /alienating her largely English-speaking fan base. br / br /I hope the risk pays off. The album is delightful. br /Twelve songs and not one bad one amongst them. br / br /Title track, 'Mi Plan', a lusty duet with Alex Cuba romps br /along like a puppy on a mission to sniff the next tree. br /(OK sometimes I don't always find the right image !) br / br /'Bajo Otra Luz', a kind of latino-caribbean shuffle, is another br /infectious bundle of fun enhanced by wonderfully focussed br /percussion and brass. The little rap in the middle is a hoot. br /Everyone involved, including writers Julieta Venegas and br /La Mala Rodriguez sound as though they're having a lot of fun. br / br /'Fuerte' is another passionate affair full of mercurial br /flamenco guitar and fruity supporting vocals from Concha Buika. br / br /'Silencio', finds Ms Furtado singing beautifully, shoulder-to-shoulder br /with the warm-toned and technically brilliant Josh Groban. br /One of the album's big highlights. br / br /The project as a whole is so much more than Nelly and Guests. br /Her cohorts' contributions are seamlessly integrated into the music. br /No showing-off. No upstaging. br /None moreso than Juan Luis Guerra's lovely vocals on 'Como Lluvia'. br / br /'Feliz Cumpleanos', however finds Ms Furtado alone, centre-stage, br /giving her very significant all to the project's finest song. br /It is an uplifting and totally convincing performance. br / br /The album delivers an upbeat ending with 'Fantasmas'. br /A high-spirited finale indeed ! br /I hope that this fine release will be welcomed by anyone br /with an open heart and mind. I loved every minute of it. br / br /Highly Recommended. br / br / br / br / br /
