Gruff, grim and glorious October 7, 2009 frapatroo (Glasgow) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a beautifully produced album in which Kris sings of his mortality and the immortality of the rebellious spirit. The songs are sometimes growled, sometimes whispered, simultaneously tender and defiant. We ought to be grateful that he's still hanging around making stuff worth listening to.
Great! October 14, 2009 Existentialist. (Ireland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great songs from the genius of KK!
br /The live cd from Ireland reveals a little of the genuine rapport
br /KK has with his adoring audiences.
br /More, more please!
br /I think it is the sign of greatness for one songwriter to be able to entertain thousands
br /simply by singing THEIR OWN SONGS and playing guitar on their own.(+ Harmonica of course.)
br /It wouldn't work for me unfortunately . lol!
surprised to love it November 6, 2009 Mrs. S. S. Walton (Hastings UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this album having read a newspaper review and it really lives up to the five stars it had been awarded. I love Johnny Cash's late work and this has the same quality of honesty, a life lived and songs coming from the heart. I was not really a fan of his and thought his music a bit middle-of-the-road for my taste but
br /this one has real guts. Maybe this is the first one he's made entirely for himself - I recommend it!
Another classy offering from Kris October 6, 2009 PCM (Aberdeen, Scotland) Been a fan for such a long time; this is another superb album, right up there with The Austin Sessions. Now, he just needs to tour the UK come to Aberdeen again...Carolyn Middleton
BC Before Cash no 2 now no1 November 15, 2009 A. Booth Vintage Kristofferson more mellow than :This Old Road:and the rebellious period. Some tracks simmilar to his early days, still has a growl/bite in his voice.Saw him at Sheffield on his last tour and was not dissapointed.
