5 out of 5 stars A worthy addition to the Kiss Katalogue   September 20, 2009

Let`s get this out of the way before we start: Kiss are never going to change the world through music or start any new trends. That is always the mind set I have when I listen to a new Kiss album. And how long has it been since the last one? Eleven years since (for my money, the disappointing) "Psycho Circus". For a band that at one point released an album every six months it seemed an eternity. They were content to be a travelling circus, touring the world playing songs that were mostly thirty-odd years old. I thought they were finished. Imagine my delight when I heard my one time favourites were in the studio! br / br /This CD was touted as a return to the classic 70`s Kiss sound so it came as a surprise to me when what I heard was not unlike the "Revenge" era. Maybe because of the fact that 3/4 of that band appear here. The songs themselves break no new ground at all but it is fun to hear some new Kiss tunes. I forgot how exciting it is to hear new music by these guys. There are the usual corny titles ("Danger Us", "Say Yeah"), Gene songs about sex ("Russian Roulette", "Yes I know (Nobody`s perfect"), dumb anthems ("Stand", "All For The Glory") and even a rip off of Poison`s "Nothing But A Good Time" ("Never Enough"). This stuff isn`t brilliant but it is good enough and there is no "Psycho Circus" style granduer to drag it down, every song rocks. If nothing else it validates the "scab" line up. Why couldn`t they have done this five years ago? Hopefully they won`t take so long next time. Maybe they are as bored playing the classics as we are hearing them? br / br /The music itself only merits four stars but I`m going to add an extra star for the packaging and bonus material on offer here. For a band that often gets accused of short changing their fans they have excelled themselves here. A bonus CD of rerecorded classics (which might be worthless to you if you are a die hard Ace/Peter fan) and a DVD of a recent show in Argentina inside a digipack with a twenty page booklet. There is plenty of bang, or should that be "boom", for your buck.

I've been a Kiss fan since 1977, and had given up on ever hearing any new material from the band following the very substandard 'Psycho Circus' which, title track aside, was very disappointing. br / br /In recent years though with a settled line up, the band have been reborn, and decided to give another album a shot, and I am so glad that they did. br / br /What you've got here is bits of Kiss from every era honed to perfection, yes there's bit's nicked from here there and everywhere, but nicked from their own back catalogue, and it matters not one iota.Sure Tommy imitates Ace's style a lot of the time, but as Paul had promised the fans a 70's style Kiss album, if Tommy didn't sound like Ace, it wouldn't sound like a 70's style Kiss album! br / br /There are massive choruses and solos galore, and a real feel good factor, which is no bad thing in these dreary times that we're going through. br / br /I'm not going to do a track by track run down, but will say if you've ever had a soft spot for Kiss, then this album is an absolute must. br / br /The 3 disc package is great value with the Japanese only re-recordings finbally seeing the light of day, and a live DVD from Argentina featuring part of a show from earlier this year(I bet the whole thing will apppear on Kissology 4!) br / br /Buy without hesitation.

As a KISS fan for 32 years I was most likely to be disappointed - despite, of course, being incredibly excited to see some new music from my favourite band..BUT no problem! This is aboslutely the cd it was claimed by the band to be! It is their best works since their halycon days of the 70's. It is quite simply stunning and manages to encapsulate in 11 songs all that is best about KISS and cleverly amalgamate their past and present in one totally satisfying whole. There are no fillers and nothing but 11 excellent songs - and this is the key I think. Every SONG has its moments, whether Gene or Paul are singing as usual or - for the first time - Eric and Tommy stretch their vocal chords - but every song is a complete mini masterpiece of melody and power and structure. The production by the Starchild himlself is modern but harks back to their clasic sound and every song bears repeated listening. Stand outs are the closer say Yeah which I gurantee you will sing after one listening and the raunchy single Modern Day Delilah. I cant wait to play it again. br /And in case youre wondering how I am reviewing this BEFORE its come out - there was a launch party for the cd in Holland last night near where I live and I went along and bought it! The disc of superbly rerecorded classics by this line-up is also excellent btw - new views through old windows! The live DVD is ok - Ive seen better to be honest - but what a bargain this package is! br /KISS have always been the hottest band in the world live, but for the first time in a long time that heat is to hear on cd too!

I just got the album today! Booked the day off from work so i could get it!! A very good album with the classic sound the band had in the late 70`s and early 80s. Bonus dvd is also very good and the re-recorded classics disc was also very surprising. Sounded a bit raw but interesting to hear! I will admit to getting a tad fed up with KISS in recent years but the band have recorded a fantastic album which showcases the talent that people forgot the band had! Welcome back KISS! Dont leave it so long next time!! lol
