5 out of 5 stars From Santa to Sherlock   October 13, 2009
K. L. Smith (United Kingdom)

I really enjoyed this, his voice is razor-blade sharp (i.e. totally shot) but somehow it all works..shame he couldn't use his 'Nashville Skyline' voice instead though. After the drab, weak 'Together Through Life' this is his best since the classic 'Love Theft'. The backing singers sound great, like Elvis's Christmas albums it has a lovely charm about it, with royalties going to feed the poor and hungry I dont want to hear moaners slagging this album off...dont see many other ' Superstars' doing anything similar with their millions. 'Christmas Blues' is great, so is 'Must be Santa' his best 'rave-up' since 'Rainy Day Women'. Yes it cranky and off-kilter, but Bob has always been that way. Rumour has it that his next release will be 'Bob Dylan Reads the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes' an audio-book apparently (Bob is a huge fan of the detective) if so I will be the first to buy a copy. Merry Christmas Bob!

5 out of 5 stars Why so many heavy people?   October 14, 2009

Let's not get too heavy. Lighten up, its a christmas album. And I have to say, I found it strangely, even bizarely, uplifting. Cheered me up no end.

5 out of 5 stars Bod does Comedy   November 14, 2009
S. J. Parker (Suffolk, England)
Oh dear, can't seem to take this seriously at all. Surely Bod has done it as a joke.... but what fun. I listened to the cd for the first time in my car on a return trip from Suffolk to London. And by the time I got home I was smitten. Bob is no Andy Williams, no, but we fans know that don't we? As for the choice of songs, I had decided to buy this album before knowing what was on it or reading any reviews and was delighted to find it was full of songs I knew, mostly, just given the Dylan stamp. It had and has me smiling as I type this. I loved Must Be Santa the best.... thought it was The Pogues at first, and would love to see a video of Bob and his band recording it. Also, for singing along the whole album is great, as you can't help but sound better than Bob! What's more it has been recorded with the Christmas spirit of generosity and for that it is a gift I will certainly be giving this year. Saying that, once is enough so back to the serious stuff now Bob!
