excellent! October 8, 2009 C. Gordon (UK) 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
When you think Chris Evans you probably think one of these things; ginger, glasses, big breakfast, don't forget your toothbrush, boozing. But in this book, which he explains isn't done in chapters like usual but is arranged in `top tens', he talks about his life before fame and where he grew up, how he got into radio, his determination and things like that, and all about how he was a normal guy who just took risks and got lucky. It also says at the end that there is another book to come with loads more stuff about Chris, which after this book I am really looking forward to!
Definitely recommended! October 6, 2009 A. Woodthorpe (London) 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
This is a cracking read. I'm a fan of Chris anyway from Radio 2 but it really is an eye-opener to see just how much he's changed from the older, wilder days and matured into a decent, hard-working man. Definitely recommended!
Great read but... October 7, 2009 C. D. Gillman (England) 5 out of 9 found this review helpful
I laughed like a drain and cried like a baby. Read the whole thing in one day. My only gripe is that the story is left open for a sequel and I am not so sure that I want to a) part with my hard earned and b) read more about Chris Evans. You decide!
It wasn't what I thought! October 22, 2009 T. S. Rimmington (Sheffield) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I had a few late nights reading this book as it really is hard to put down. On top of this the energy that comes across in the writing is not condusive to sleep! Watch out or your life could end up as blury as Chris's has been. I thought I was getting Chris's full autobiography but it turns out this is just part 1 taking us up to the time when he bought Virgin Radio. Will I be further lining Chris's pockets and purchasing part 2 when it comes out? Probably.
Buy This Book! October 27, 2009 Ms. E. Naylor (Sheffield, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Can I just say what a truly brilliant, inspiring book this really is! Whether you love him or loathe him, Chris has some pearls of wisdom in this book that he's obviously learned the hard way.
br /From his early days wheeling and dealing in sweets for his schoolmates, paperboy, volunteering at local radio, up to forcing Richard Branson to take a flight on Concorde, his life experiences are rich and varied.
br /Chris looks back fondly at some of the great highs and also the lows in his career.
br /The main message I get is that pure hard graft, a little luck and a lot of talent can get you anywhere you want to be in life. Also, sod authority figures if you know better yourself! haha
br /
br /This is the first book I've read, that as soon as I've finished, I've started to re-read immediatley again!
br /Roll on volume 2!
