4 out of 5 stars Living Yoga   April 2, 2009
Rachael (Yorkshire, UK)
This is a delightful and insightful read to the practise of yoga. Christy Turlington (American supermodel from the 1990's), writes a 'down to earth' accompaniment for anyone interested in the background of yoga culture and practise. Turlington doesn't patronise the reader and use jargon to confuse you, so it really is a great read for a beginner like myself. The book does not contain instruction of how to do asanas (yoga postures) so don't be mislead. This is a book about the history of yoga, the various styles of yoga and the spiritual thought behind its practise. This book has given me an insight into yoga from a perspective I can relate to - it also explains how any religion (particularly Christian focus in this text) can use yoga to support and enhance their faith. Thoroughly enjoyable read!
