A wonderful read April 4, 2009 Mags057 (Aberdeenshire, Scotland) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Jenni Murray has a great way with words. This super book draws you into her world completely and is a real page turner. The fact that the story is true means that many readers will relate to a lot of what she writes about. Highly recommended.
Jenni Murray autobiography May 18, 2009 Ruthie Mead (London, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an eminently readable and hugely enjoyable book. It tells of Jenni's childhood, and in particular her relationship with her Father. It follows the decline of both parents, the death of her Mother, her own discovery of breast cancer and the death of her Father. It isn't an emotional book, but it IS incredibly moving.

Book arrrived as promised in good condition. Was delighted with the low price so can only give top marks for the whole transaction. Many Thanks to all concerned.
Memories awakened. June 3, 2009 Reikijo (Coventry. Warwickshire) Born around the same time as Jenni I related to many of the memories of her childhood and youth - putting on make-up 'in secret'etc.,and her relationships with her parents. This is a cleverly written book that travels easily between her early years and to more recent times-through months of the year rather than chronilogical order. An enjoyable read that has some poignant moments but also some moments of joy.
Memoirs of a Not so Dutiful Daughter July 18, 2009 Mrs. B. A. White (Brentwood, Essex) Loved this book, especially as my Mother and Grandparents come from the Barnsley area of Yorkshire, where I visited throughout my childhood and adult life. Jenni Murray has you both laughing and in tears, telling of her mis-guided youth (which rings many bells with us over 50's) and also with the loss of her parents whilst battling cancer herself. She handles the difficult subject of the loss of her Father through cancer and her appreciation of the support given by Barnsley Hospice is clear but not over-sentimental. This book is brilliant and covers Jenni's childhood, family relationships, education and hard work which has made her such a success in journalism, radio, television and of course writing. She is a testament to hard work and tenacity. Definitely recommended to all age groups, especially for the insight into coping on so many levels.
