| Customer Reviews: One of the best books I've read in a long time. January 19, 2009 K. L. Mason (UK) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I finished this book in about 24 hours, which is unusual for me. Being from Battersea I immediately found the subject of this book interesting and seeing as it was set 20 years before I came to live in the borough I was curious to see how it was portrayed, although some bits of it are still the same. This book tells the story of a young girl who is almost born to suffer and goes through hell and back before escaping the bleak world she inhabits.

br /There are a lot of characters and you have to be on the ball to keep up with who is who but the dialogue is so natural and the people so real that it's almost like reading a memoir than a novel.

br /I can't recommend The Empty Hearth enough and if you like a thumping good read with lots of ups and downs and tears and laughter, you will love this.

what a fabulous story. April 5, 2007 Annie Jones (england) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
The best yet from Kitty Neale and I would highly recommend this book.
An Interesting but easy read May 3, 2009 Rebecca (Wiltshire, UK) To me this book dealt with serious issues in a rather 'hollywood' style. Eeverything was always going to turn out alright, the couple would always get together and the wrong doing would be forgiven.
br /However I would say it was still a satisfying read, it won't stay with me forever but it entertained me for a few days.
br /Worth a read if you fancy something interesting but not too taxing.
