The introduction pages are really encouraging and well explain into the uses of Pilates on the body and general well-being. It's a very useful introduction to keep refering to. It's partially technical and part instigator. The whole aspect of the book is about the positive powers inside that are being worked out. The body exercises are well explained in sentances and photos, and drawings for each; and hints and tips on what not to do, what to avoid, for each, and there are really useful "map" pages where you see the whole mat routine, so when you have learnt the basic form of exercises you want to do, you can just have that page open for the session. It's broad in suggestions of how much to train. You just find it suggests to you to do your best with it and stop when you need a rest. Best it encourages you that whatever deficiency bought you to the stage of trying Pilates, that's OK, and to be responsible for your own strengthening and fitness. All in all it is reassuring and well explained and laid out attractively.
