| Customer Reviews: The only Genetic Programming text book. November 22, 2000 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
For those wishing a complete introduction to the field of Genetic Programming, this is an essential purchase.pIt is targetted at users without a computing science background and is structured to allow readers to be selective as to which chapters to read, according to their background (although I would advise reading all chapters).pOf particular use is a chapter covering the biological foundation of GP (a subject barely covered in most texts), and the fact that this is a text book (ie it is written in a style that is far easier to read and understand than Koza). pAdd to this the fact that it also covers developments in the field up to c1996 and a good list of GP resources. Excellent.
not bad, but no software! October 5, 2009 S. Miller (Cambridge, UK) This is a decent (if somewhat dated) book on genetic programming, covering basic concepts well, and more advanced ideas and developments up to the late 90s.

br /One major thing which detracts from it, however, is the claim on the cover that you get free access to the authors' GP code. Not true!
br /
br /This code may well have been freely available when the book was first published (1999), but certainly isn't now; one look at the authors' website shows it's a fully commercial product.
