A tribute to an authentic martyr- in a time of all too many false idols! April 4, 2009 Wayne Redhart (West Midlands, UK) 56 out of 85 found this review helpful
Few events in waking memory have been the source of more sadness than Jade Goody's untimely departure. Arguably a greater disaster than that of Hurricane Katrina, or the attacks of 9/11, in recent years such a tragedy could only reasonably be said to have been eclipsed by the harrowing loss of Princess Diana. Goody may no longer be with us, but her spirit shall never die. In these difficult times, one must seek to draw comfort and solace from the knowledge than she has taken her rightful place in eternal paradise- alongside Mother Theresa, Florence Nightingale and Albert Schweitzer. This book is a fitting testament to her life's work- for which she will doubtless continue to be celebrated throughout the entire remainder of this present decade. Over the course of her final days, we must remember how Jade fought so tirelessly for a genuinely altruistic cause. Thanks to the money that she so selflessly raised, her noble spirit can rest safe in the knowledge that her children have been gifted with that all-important opportunity to grow up as millionaires.

br /As citizens from each of the earth's continents unite as one in the mourning of Jade's death, one hopes that her legacy will be left in wider public awareness of the appropriate procedures to follow in the face of adversity. Last week I found a small lump upon my gonads! If it weren't for what had happened to Goody, I might never have done a thing about it! Thanks to the awareness that she raised about the relevant course of action to take, I immediately sought an appointment with a trained consultant. In such situations, it is simply vital to seek professional assistance at the earliest possible opportunity. You never know when it might be too late! Anyhow, once I've got those all-important meetings with my PR man out the way, I shall start thinking about seeing if I can also find time for an appointment with a Doctor (possibly within the next month or so). First things first though, eh!
YOU DON`T HAVE TO LIKE HER BUT YOU CAN`T DENY THIS IS A GREAT STORY. May 11, 2008 Leeds lass (England) 20 out of 30 found this review helpful
No-one is more amazed at Jade Goody`s fame than Jade herself. Take away that fame and this is still very much a story worth telling and worth reading. Her mother the one armed puffing lesbian go-offer, and her father the robbing drug addict jailbird - between them they gave her one crazy, never to be forgotten childhood. One thing that comes across very clearly throughout all the craziness is that Jade`s mother loved her very much, and of course still does. I had no opinion on Jade before reading this book and didn`t know what to expect. I`m certainly no follower of hers and didn`t know much about her at all, but i thoroughly enjoyed this book and found myself chuckling away quite a few times at her naive honesty. Her parting shot at the very end of the book is hilarious !
br /Quote from the introduction -: `You either love her or hate her.`
br /Or you could just like her. After reading this book, i just like her.
br / Whatever your opinion of her, there`s no denying it - the girl from Bermondsey did good.

If you have read catch a falling star I would not bother buying this book as it is the same
A parable for our time May 2, 2006 W. Paynter (London, UK) 30 out of 58 found this review helpful
Fame is the thirst of youth --- Lord Byron
br /
br /This book is a parable of the mysterious, ephemeral phenomenon that is celebrity in Britain in the early 21st century.
br /
br /Through its overtly shallow narrative and simple sentence structures it pretends to be the records of a simple, plain soul. It is clear however that beneath the crust lies a message to all of us that life is not black and white, simple binary, or just truth and lies.
br /
br /The author, in my interpretation, is stressing that each of us faces a daily dichotomy between famous activity or innocuous passivity and it is the choices that we make as individuals that will ultimately lead to either universal fame and happiness - or oblivion.

Never will there be another lady like jade April 3, 2009 Gina 12 out of 23 found this review helpful
I have allways been a fan of Jade Goody, and once i picked up this book i couldent put it down, some people would say Jade was loud mouthed and didnt deserve her fame, i disagree in my eyes she will be sadly missed she was a bundle of life and energy and she showed that to everyone with her battle with cancer untill the end. This book will make you laugh, cry, angry but most of all it will show you that anyone who came into contact with Jade became her best friends and loved her for what she was. i just wish i could have been one of those people.Rest in peace Jade we love you xx
