5 out of 5 stars As good as ever   November 16, 2009

Penny Jordan writes one of those books you are sad to finish because you don't know if the next book you read will be as good as hers! Unputdownable!

2 out of 5 stars Sins, What a Shame   July 6, 2009

I had been so looking forward to reading the second of Penny Jordan's books about the Pickford family , but how dissappointed I was . This is not anywhere nearly as good as SILK, possibly beacause most of the characters are not likable whereas in Silk I found that apart from a few, most of the characters were interesting or fascinating and also the era in which it was set may have added to the enjoyment of the story with all the elegance of the Thirties and the society of which Amber was a part of . I just found Sins to be rather trashy for the most part and certainly not up to the standard of storytelling that the previous book had. I will proberbly buy the last book of the trilogy when it is published and hope that the author hasn't rushed that one so much and that the story is much improved and that the younger characters prove to be more interesting than in SINS, I lived in London in the so called "swinging sixties" and it certainly was not as seedy and trashy as Penny Jordan makes it appear. I shall be interested to read other peoples reviews when they are printed. I kept hoping that her writing would improve, which it did towards the end, it was only then that it had a resemblance to the previous book.
