Ducati's seven-time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi is considering retirement from the sport after the 2014 season.
Rossi though wants to become a winner with the Italian outfit before he does. Even at 32 Rossi still feels he can be competitive against such riders as former team mate Jorge Lorenzo and Honda's World Champion Casey Stoner.
Rossi remains committed to bring success to his Ducati team, to this end he has stated he intends to extend his contract before it expires at the end of 2012.
Rossi, who won his last title in 2009, said: "I want a new two-year contract with Ducati, maybe the last, and then I'll think about how to enjoy myself. Adding "I want to win something here, make Ducati grow and then stop."
Last year, Rossi failed for the first time in his career to win a MotoGP race finishing in seventh place in the championship.
Rossi had discounted a return to a Japanese outfit in an earlier press conference branding it 'unlikely', though the Italian added it was not impossible, but as he and Ducati had started the project with both parties wanting to take it to a successful conclusion and to win something. 'I would like to help Ducati achieve something.' added Rossi
Rossi's illustrious career has seen him win nine championships, seven in the premier class, including five consecutive titles from 2001-05 and two more in 2008 and 2009, riding for Honda and Yamaha.
