It was Manchester United who take the local pride following the Manchester derby which saw them beat Manchester City thanks to Wayne Rooney's 100th club goal.
It wasn't all good news for the reds though, as they had Cristiano Ronaldo sent off after he inexplicably hand balled in the area.
United dominated early but it was City who came closest to scoring when Javier Garrido's free kick found Stephen Ireland. Ireland's shot bounced towards Micah Richards, standing in front of the net but he left the ball, leaving it to graze the post.
United's goal came just before the break. City had plenty of chances to clear the ball but it fell to Michael Carrick who shot low. Keeper Joe hart parried the ball into Rooney's path who converted it to get his 100th club goal.
With just over 20 minutes to go Ronaldo saw red when he almost caught Rooney's corner at the near post. He had already been booked ten minutes earlier for bringing down Shaun Wright-Phillips.
The 1-0 score line was complimentary to City's poor display, it could have been a lot more.
