Begovic backs Conte to get it right

Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic believes new manager Antonio Conte will eventually get Chelsea back on the right track.

The Italian looked to have put the Blues' issues from last season to bed based on the team's start to the campaign, with the Blues winning their first three Premier League matches under Conte.

However, a surprise draw at Swansea was quickly followed by back-to-back defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal, leaving Chelsea down in seventh place, five points off early pace setters Manchester City.

A 2-0 win over Hull before the international break put an end to the bad run, with Conte switching to a 3-4-3 formation in a bid to give his struggling backline more protection.

Begovic hopes the win at Hull is a sign of things to come and is behind Conte's plans for the club, claiming they can finish in the top four this season despite the losses to Arsenal and Liverpool.

"We are into a period of transition, mistakes will happen and it will take time," Begovic told the Daily Mirror.

"But I think we will be very strong moving forward in the future. We had a good start, the first four games we played really well, everything was going our way and then we had a couple of bad results with Arsenal and Liverpool.

"I think it is teething problems. You have to go through a process before it becomes a success. It takes a bit of time. As time goes on, we know more what to expect and what [Conte] expects from us.

"Absolutely we can make the top four. That's the main goal. Of course we want to win the title but getting back in the Champions League is crucial. I think it's one of the best squads I've ever been a part of because we've got strength in depth everywhere."
