Everton are tracking Lille midfielder Soualiho Meite and a January offer for the youngster could be forthcoming.
Reports say Blues boss Ronald Koeman is a fan of the 22-year-old, who is currently on loan at Belgian side Zulte Waregem, and he is ready to try and land him from Lille when the transfer window reopens at the start of next year.
However, the youngster is also on the radar of several other top European clubs, not least Everton's Premier League rivals West Ham and Liverpool, while German duo Borussia Dortmund and Schalke are also interested.
Meite joined Lille from Auxerre for £1.3m in 2013 but could be set to leave Ligue 1 in January after catching the eye in Belgium with Zulte so far this season.
It is thought Meite, who plays as a defensive central midfielder, will be valued at around £4million by Lille - a figure Everton would be prepared to pay if they can beat off the competition for his signature.
