Mumbai, March 22 (IANS) India's second-innings capitulation for 100 in their 212-run defeat to England in the third Test here Wednesday is the second lowest ever total at the Wankhede Stadium, ironically India's lucky venue.

The lowest ever total recorded at this venue was 93 made by Australia against India in the famous yet controversial win in the fourth Test of the 2004-05 series. In that match, the pitch assisted slow bowlers and the Indian spinners ran through the opponents to win in about two and half days.

And India came close to 'bettering' that unenviable record when they were shot out for 100 in just 48.2 overs here Wednesday.

England drew the series 1-1, after losing the second Test at Mohali.

Overall, India's total - in which only three batsmen reached double figures - was the ninth lowest against England in 93 Tests. The lowest total ever recorded against England is 42 at Lord's in London in 1974.

Historically, Wankhede Stadium has been one of India's lucky grounds. Of the 21 Tests played here, including this Test, India have won nine matches, the visitors six and six have been drawn.

England now have won two of out six Tests at this venue.
