Alex Ferguson has revealed that he has no concerns about star striker Wayne Rooney and believes that he did the right thing in leaving him out of the Manchester United squad at the weekend against Everton.
Stories about Rooney's private life have dominated front pages of all the newspapers for the last week and the United manager kept Rooney off the pitch for the clash against his former club.
But United could only manage a 3-3 draw with the Merseyside club but insists that keeping Rooney out of the squad was the right thing to do.
"I have no regrets. I did the right thing. I have no need to clear it up. I explained the reasons on Saturday. There is nothing beyond that.
"I have no concerns about playing him against Rangers at all. I don't know if tomorrow will inspire him. He has a lot of experience behind him.
"But I do know scoring for England last week will have given him a boost."
Rooney was back in training with his teammates this morning and the squad is all set to face Scottish champions Rangers tomorrow in the Champions League.
With goals from Fletcher, Vidic and Berbatov on Saturday Manchester United had a comfortable 3-1 lead over Everton going into the three minutes of extra time, the goal for Everton coming from Pienaar in the thirty ninth minutes.
But David Moyes' men hit back with two goals in extra time to grab a point from the game as it ended 3-3. United are currently third in the league on eight points, behind Chelsea and Arsenal.
