Arsene Wenger believes that Theo Walcott will develop into a real strike force for the London club.

The twenty one year old fired three past Blackpool, only the second hat-trick of his career, at the weekend in a 6-0 thumping of the newly promoted side as he continues to show why he maybe should have played at the World Cup.

The youngster was a surprise omission from Capello's final squad but has since been recalled by the Italian when England faced Hungary in friendly earlier this month.

But Wenger is positive about Walcott's development in recent years and is confident that he can become a vital goal scorer for Arsenal.

Speaking to ESPN the Arsenal manager said: You always worry about a player's development, but I was always positive about Theo because I have looked at his disappointments, and how well he analyses things.

"When you are intelligent, you always improve. He's not there yet but he is developing, maybe what happened to him is part of his development.

"I believe he can score goals because when he was young he scored goals, and I am convinced he will finish in the middle. He times his runs well, once he is a yard clear nobody in the world can catch him, and now he is more composed in front of goal."

Arsenal have picked up four points from their opening two games after drawing with Liverpool in their opening match last weekend before dominating the match against Blackpool on Saturday.
