Championship side Burnley pulled off a giant killing of Premiership leaders Chelsea in last nights Carling Cup match at Stamford Bridge. The game finished 1-1 on 90 minutes but Burnley won 5-4 on penalties.
Burnley keeper Brian Jensen won the game for Burnley with his full stretch dive which kept out Jon Mikel Obi's decisive penalty.
Burnley started lively, forcing the Blues onto the counter attack in the early stages with both Chris Eagles and Joey Gudjonsson looking like scoring. But it was Chelsea who took the lead after 27 minutes when Didider Drogba found off a Frank Lampard cross, and went past two defenders and slotted home Malouda nearly doubled Chelsea's advantage after being played in by Kalou, but his shot was pushed away by Jensen.
Burnley looked better in the second half and Ade Akinbiyi got their equaliser when winger Chris Eagles was put through on goal and when Cudicini blocked the loose ball, Akinbiyi swept up to score.
Argentinian striker Franco Di Santo almost got Chelsea the winner in the closing stages of normal time but shot wide.
Frank Lampard netted the ball in extra time but was adjudged to be offside, so penalties ensued.
Last night's other Carling Cup results:
Sunderland 1-2 Blackburn
Tottenham 4-2 Liverpool
