Ferguson Dismisses Tevez Speculation

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has dismissed questions over Carlos Tevez's future at the club following speculation he will leave in the summer.

The striker had told Sunday newspapers that he thinks he will leave the club when his loan spell runs out because he has not been offered a new contract.

Speaking after the 2-0 win over Manchester City, in which Tevez scored in, Ferguson told the BBC: "I didn't read any of the papers. He's a Manchester United player."

Tevez scored just before the break, sending the ball in off the post from the edge of the area. He celebrated by running towards the manager with his ears cupped while United fans chanted: "Fergie, sign him up."

Ferguson however would not answer questions on Tevez despite the player himself voicing concerns.

Tevez told the News of the World: "I am very sad about this but I guess what I'm saying is goodbye. I don't think I'll be a United player next season. I've done everything I possibly can but they have never made me an offer or given me a contract.

"I have not been treated as a member of the family. The fans treat me like family but United have not signed me so they don't respect me as a footballer."

Following their derby win United now just need four points to win the league. They travel to Wigan on Wednesday then face Arsenal at Old Trafford on Saturday and Hull at the KC Stadium the following weekend.
