Cesc Fabregas has denied that he is suffering more hamstring problems.

The Arsenal captain has already been sidelined one this season with injury issues by he has reassured fans that he is being troubled by muscle fluid.

He told the club's official matchday programme: "The good news is there is no tear on the hamstring, nothing. It's just a little bit of fluid, but it keeps coming back," .

"It's outside the muscle, the 'skin' of the muscle. It's not really a muscle injury, it's fluid that keeps coming back and it's very annoying.

"We are working on it, looking at my hips because they are always very tight. We have to work on it but also understand that I am 23-years-old and I've played many, many games.

"Soon I will play my 200th Premier League game as well as nearly 60 for the national team and 60 in the Champions League. So that's a lot of games for my age and I have to take care of myself."

Fabregas was in action on Sunday as Arsenal fell to a surprise 1-0 defeat at home to Newcastle United, a goal by Andy Carroll being the only thing that separated the two sides.

Arsenal were hoping to pick themselves up after a Champions League defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk but was unable to get back on level terms with the Magpies.

The loss sees then third in the Premier League as Manchester United move three points clear after a last gasp winner at Wolves on Saturday.

They are five points behind leaders Chelsea, who also lost on Sunday.
