Cesc Fabreagas has revealed that his biggest career regret is that he did not lift a trophy as Arsenal captain.

The former Gunners captain completed his move to Barcelona yesterday for a fee believed to be £40million.

This is the second consecutive summer that Fabregas had been linked with a move back to his boyhood club, the club he left as a sixteen year old to join Arsenal.

But Fabregas was full of praise for Arsenal and his time there and wishes that he could have lifted a trophy for them.

In a press conference at the Nou Camp yesterday Fabregas said: "The biggest regret I will have in my career is I did not lift a trophy as Arsenal captain.

"More than just not winning trophies and medals, it was the routine fact of doing the same things over and again, trying to win and then always finding, one way or another, that we just didn't have enough to get over the finishing line.

"We just didn't seem to have what it took in the final sprint for a trophy. But Arsenal are a great club and they will push on without me just like they did when Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry left.

"The club is always bigger than the player and I am sure they will be strong again."

Fabregas flew into Barcelona on Sunday to complete a two part medical before the move was announced yesterday.
