David Beckham Wouldn't Con Capello

David Beckham would never con Fabio Capello into thinking he was fit just to win another England cap.

The former England skipper is keen to continue his international career but has been out of the game for six months after rupturing his Achilles whist playing for AC Milan, an injury that saw him miss out on the World Cup this summer.

However Beckham was back in action was back in action over the weekend as he returned to LA Galaxy to play the final twenty minutes in a 3-1 win over Columbus Crew.

But it looked like his international career was over when Capello announced in a TV interview that Beckham was 'too old', a decision that he did retract.

Despite his desire to once again play for his country Beckham has revealed that he would never lie about his fitness to Capello just to put the England shirt on once again.

Speaking to The Sun he said: "I have always said I still want to be available for England and if I'm fit and well I'm sure the manager will consider me.

"But I am an honest person and if I'm not fit I will say so."

And while he has been sidelined with an injury Beckham admitted that he is just relieved to be back on the pitch and playing football again and now he is focused on get 100% fit.

"I have been out injured for six months so right now it's a case of still getting my match fitness back.

"I'm working hard and making good progress but we will have to see how many games I get, how many minutes on the field I can get before the squad is announced.

"Because with this type of serious injury you have to to take it one step at a time - and just playing again is a real big step forward for me."

England have already got their Euro 2012 campaign underway with two wins against Bulgaria and Switzerland which see them top their group, they face Macedonia next month.
