David Villa believes that Spain have shown that they can hold their nerve on the big stage.
On Wednesday night Spain played in their first ever World Cup semi-final and have widely been regarded as the underachievers of world football..
But since their Euro 2008 win against Germany two years ago Spain have demonstrated that they are a force to be reckoned with and Villa believes that they deserve the success that has come their way.
And while the soon be Barcelona striker is happy to reach the World Cup final he believes that they should have scored more goals.
Speaking to the BBC he said: "We've shown that in the big moments we can grow even more," Villa said. "We should have scored more goals, but one from Puyol has put us in the final.
"The group deserves this but we want more. We are happy to be in the final, that was our objective, but now we want to be champions."
The European Champions saw off the team of the tournament Germany when Puyol fired a bullet header home to give Spain the lead after seventh three minutes.
Spain will now face Holland on Sunday, neither side have ever lifted the World Cup.
