England's run in the World Cup qualifiers continued last night as they thrashed Andorra 6-0 at Wembley.
There seems to be a real purpose about the England team after their disappointment of not making the Euro 2008 finals last year.
Despite tube issues in London yesterday plenty of fans turned up to show their support for the home side as two chances came in the first couple of minutes for Wayne Rooney.
It seemed only a matter of time before the Manchester United player found the back of the net. Sure enough he opened England's goal tally just after four minutes of play.
Known as one of the most defensive teams in the world Andorra's resistance soon gave way to the barrage of England chances as Lampard added a second before Rooney volleyed a third before half time.
With his two goals last night Wayne Rooney is now level with 1966 World Cup hero Sir Geoff Hurst with twenty four goals for England.
With the job done England could have sat back but instead they once again pushed forward and ran rings around the Andorran defence.
Capello brought Jermain Defoe on a half time and it proved to be a clever move as he found the back of the net with just under twenty minutes of play left.
Three minutes later he was on target once again to make it 5-0. Peter Crouch had had shot after shot all night eventually rolling one over the line to make it an impressive 6-0.
England seemed to be playing with a new found belief under the direction of Fabio Capello, who is yet to taste defeat, as they have bulldozed their way through qualifying.
With seven victories out of seven under their belts they are ten points clear of second place Croatia and have one foot in the finals. With three more qualifying matches to come in September and October, two home and one away, one more win will secure their place in South Africa next year.
