Fabio Capello will leave the England job after the Euro 2012 competition.

The Italian took over from Steve McClaren back in December 2007 and his £6m a year contact runs out in the summer of 2012 and while this year's World Cup was a disaster for Capello he has not intention of extending his deal until 2014 and the tournament in Brazil.

And while England have made a good start to their qualifying campaign for Euro 2012 Capello admits that the result in that competition in two years time will not effect his decision to leave his post.

Speaking to The Sun he said: It's a new start because when we finished the Germany game at the World Cup, the atmosphere wasn't good. We have created a new group with a new winning mentality and there is a new atmosphere.

"But my contract is not a problem and, yes, I will leave. I will be too old. I want to enjoy my life as a pensioner."

Capello came under fire from the press and England fans after the team's disastrous World Cup campaign in South Africa earlier this summer, which saw them crash out to Germany in the first of the knock out stages.

But the side have re-grouped and introduced new players and currently sit at the top of their group after good wins over Bulgaria and Switzerland in the last week.
