Real's new manager Fabio Capello has told Spanish television station Antena 3 he is optimistic Van Nistelrooy will be a success in Spain.
Van Nistelrooy arrived at Old Trafford in 2001 from PSV Eindhoven and has scored 150 goals in 218 games for the club.

United have also been tipped to make a renewed attempt to sign Spurs midfielder Michael Carrick from Spurs, who had previously registered an interest in Nistetroy upping there initial £10m rejected bid. Other potential targets are Milan midfield duo Andrea Pirlo and Gennaro Gattuso, along with Patrick Vieira of Juventus
