Frank Lampard is still an important player for England according to Fabio Capello.
The Chelsea midfielder was substituted at half time during Saturday's Euro 2012 qualifier with Switzerland.
A penalty from Lampard got England back in the game, after falling 2-0 behind, but he was replaced by Ashley Young after half time.
Despite this change Capello insists that the thirty two year old still has an important part to play as England try to qualify for the European competition.
Speaking to Goal.com the England manager said: "Frank Lampard is an important player, when he is fresh, he is a really important player.
He has a big personality on the pitch and he scores goals. When he is in a good moment of form, he is a good player.
"He played a lot of games.I saw him and he was not fresh like the other players.
"I decided to make a change because of this."
