Gerard Houllier has no intention of bringing Michael Owen to Aston Villa when the transfer window opens in January.
The Manchester United striker has been hit with another injury as is currently sidelined with a hamstring problem.
And while Owen's contract with United runs out at the end of the year the former Liverpool boss has not plans to try and reunite with his star striker.
When asked if he would try to sign Owen in January, Houllier said: "No, no.
"In terms of some strikers Emile and John will come back. There is no point."
However Houllier admitted that he was thinking about signing some new players. "We definitely need to sign one or two players in January."
Houllier joined Villa in September after the resignation of Martin O'Neill and they are currently ninth in the league.
Villa led Manchester United 2-0 at the weekend before the Reds hit back to draw the match 2-2.
