Gerrard Believes Reds Can Finish Fourth

Steven Gerrard believes that a top four finish is not out of the reach of Liverpool this season, despite their poor start.

The poor start for the Reds, which saw them in the bottom three only a couple of weeks ago, is currently on the up and they now find themselves in ninth.

Liverpool enjoyed a morale boosting 2-0 win over Chelsea at the weekend and have not put together five match unbeaten run.

And while things look to be gelling on the pitch the Liverpool skipper believes that stability in the boardroom, since John Henry bought the club, has helped.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper Gerrard said:"I think it helps.

"Listen, everyone wants to go onto the football pitch with everything right off the pitch and Liverpool had a hard 12 months with what's been going on off the pitch.

"We certainly wouldn't use it as an excuse for results on the pitch but it is nice and refreshing to know that we're in safe hands now.

"Everyone wants to move the club forward and everyone can concentrate on the football and on making headlines on the back pages rather than the front."

Liverpool are currently in ninth spot on sixteen points and face Stoke at the weekend and could move into the top five if they win and other results go their way.
