Harry Redknapp believes that Fabio Capello is wrong to side line David Beckham.

The England manager has announced that he believes that the former Manchester United player is too old to be part of the squad for the qualifying campaign for the Euro 2012 tournament.

And while the Italian is looking to the future and the younger players to push England forward Redknapp believes that the LA Galaxy player, despite having been sidelined with injury, still has plenty to offer on an international stage.

Speaking to The Sun the Tottenham manager said: "I don't think David will give up and I would never write him off.

"I think he will come back and he could play at 37 for England. He never had pace when he was 21 so he hasn't lost that. He is just a fantastic user of the ball, crosser of the ball.

"He has been a role model for kids. He has set a great example over the years for every young footballer and every young guy in the street. Great image, top class."

David Beckham missed out on playing at the World Cup in South Africa after he ruptured Achilles tendon but he did go as part of the backroom staff.
