Harry Redknapp believes that he could take on the England job when Capello retires in 2012.

The currently England manager revealed last week that he would not be looking to extend his contract beyond 2012, not matter what the result at the Euros may be.

And already Redknapp has been a name linked as a successor and the current Tottenham Hotspur manager believes that he would be ready to take over the role.

Speaking to The Sun Redknapp said: "I have proved I can do what I can do as a manager by getting Tottenham to fourth place from where we were.

"Whatever I do at Tottenham - in the Champions League or the Premier League - my record has not been too shabby. I don't ever think I have got anything to prove."

Despite already being talked about to take over from Capello when he steps down in 2012 after the European competition Redknapp insists that he is not looking that far ahead.

"In two years I could be manager of Poole Town - who knows? You don't know what is around the corner in football. I certainly don't look two years ahead - there would be no point in doing that."

Redknapp has been manager of the London club since 2008 and guided them to a Champions League spot at the end of last season when they finished fourth in the Premier League.

And Tottenham are in Champions League action tonight against Werder Breme as the group stages of the competition gets underway.
