Hodgson Believes Gerrard Won't Leave Liverpool

Roy Hodgson believes that Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher will never leave Liverpool football club.

This comes just days after goalkeeper Pepe Reina raised questions over his future at the club after Liverpool's poor start to the season.

But despite the slow start Hodgson has revealed that Gerrard and Carragher's commitment to the club has never been called into question.

Speaking to the Daily Mail the Liverpool manager said: "Carragher is an excellent player and people like him and Steven Gerrard epitomise Liverpool Football Club.

‘These days there is so much talk about do players want to stay or want to go, and with those two there’s never any question. They are Liverpool through and through.

‘It’s very important we have people like that at this club and Carragher epitomises it with his fighting spirit.

‘He has played left-back, right back and centre half for me this season and he doesn’t moan about it.

‘He gets on with job and I have no fears ever about playing him at full back or centre back because he plays equally as well in both positions.’

But it looked like Liverpool's season was turning around at the weekend when they beat league leaders Chelsea 2-0 at Anfield.

The win saw them shoot up the table to ninth and they have a chance to consolidate that great win in a trip to Wigan tonight.
