Joe Hart is hoping to secure the England No 1 jersey with some good play during the domestic season.

After a spell at St Andrews, Hart is back at Manchester City this season and will be challenging Shay Given to make Manchini's starting line up week after week.

And as Fabio Capello looked toward the younger players last night during a friendly with Hungary Hart got his first start in an England jersey.

Hart was taken to the World Cup this summer but was overlooked in favour of David James and Robert Green during the competition but he is now looking to be the main man in goal.

Speaking to Sky Sports he said: "It was nice to get the start but a few goalkeepers weren't involved in the squad so I'm going to have to keep my head down and play well at club level.

"It's going to be a huge challenge to stay as England No.1. I can't take anything for granted.

"It will be very important that I'm playing regularly at City but we'll just have to wait and see who the manager picks on Saturday (for City's game against Tottenham).

"I have to be confident that I will start. I really want to play and I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully the manager will pick me."

Manchester City's season gets underway this weekend with an away tie on Saturday against Tottenham Hotspur.
