John Terry Regains England Captaincy

John Terry has been reinstated as England captain by Fabio Capello.
The Chelsea captain was stripped of the England arm band by Capello over twelve months ago after rumours of an alleged affair hit the headlines.
Rio Ferdinand was named captain in his place but due to the Manchester United defender’s long standing injury problems it was Steven Gerrard who captained England during last summer’s World Cup.
Despite being stripped of the captaincy Terry has continued to be a feature of the England team and Capello has handed the arm band back to the defender for England’s Euro 2012 qualifier against Wales.
Speaking to Sky Sports Capello said: "I decided John Terry would be the captain for this game (against Wales) because, after the game in Copenhagen, the way the armband was moved around was upsetting for him.
"Also, I said my decision would be the day before the (Wales) game because I wanted to speak with the players, I wanted to speak with John Terry.
"I also knew the England doctors spoke with the doctors of Manchester United and Liverpool and I knew that Rio and Steven Gerrard were injured.
“But I have decided that John Terry, after one year of punishment, will again be the permanent captain. I think one Year’s punishment is enough.
“He was my first choice when I (initially) decided on the permanent captain.”
England will face Wales in Cardiff next Saturday in a qualifier for Euro 2012.
