John Terry has revealed that he is pleased that Chelsea bounced back from two defeats to beat Marseille 2-0 in the Champion's League last night.

The Premier League leaders had lost at the weekend to Manchester City as well as crashing out of the Carling Cup at the hand of Newcastle only a couple of days earlier.

But they seemed to be getting back on track as a second successive win sees then top their group and are hot favourites to qualify.

It was Terry who opened the scoring after just seven minutes and he admits that it is a relief to get back to winning ways.

Speaking to Sky Sports 2 after the match he said: "Coming here, we'd had two losses which is very unusual for us.So we're pleased to pick up three points, keep a clean sheet and extend that lead at the top of the group.

"In the second half we had a few chances to make it three or four. We didn't start the brightest in the second half but we stayed solid and kept a clean sheet.

"With Sunday in mind we maybe took our foot off the gas a little bit, saving a bit of energy for the weekend.

"We'd have liked to have got a third and killed the game off but they had a lot of possession."

Nicolas Anelka added a second goal from the penalty spot in the twenty eighth minute after referee believed that Stephane Mbia handled a cross from Michael Essien.

And while the French champions did battle back in the second, causing a couple of chances in the second, Chelsea comfortably secured a good victory.

They can now look forward to an all London derby at the weekend as the will face Arsenal in the Premier League
