Liverpool Can Win Without Steven Gerrard

Steven Gerrard may be on the sidelines for Liverpool for up to a month but Jamie Carragher believes that the club can win without their captain.

Gerrard limped off the Wembley pitch on Wednesday evening during England's friendly match with France having played eighty five minutes of the match.

This resulted in a Twitter rank from Liverpool's physio as he claimed it was promised Gerrard would play not longer than an hour.

The Liverpool captain is now out of action due to a hamstring injury and its believes that the club will receive compensation from the FA.

And while Gerrard is a driving force at the club Carragher believes that the side can still win and pick up points without him.

Speaking to the Daily Mail Carragher said: 'There is no doubt Steven will be missed whether we win, lose or draw because he is such an important player here.

'But it is up to us to perform well and lessen the impact, like when we beat Spurs (2-0) in January without him and Fernando (Torres).

'There are a few similarities because that game came a few days after a disappointing result against Stoke when we drew 1-1 but we showed we could bounce back.

'Everyone knows what great quality Steven has got and it is frustrating for everyone - though nobody more than him - that he is out because he has been in such good form.

'But the most important thing now is beating West Ham. We know we didn’t perform at Stoke but if we get three points tomorrow, the league table will look much better and we can push on."

After a promising win over Chelsea a fortnight ago LIverpool have seen themselves slip back down the table after a draw at Wigan and a loss to Stoke.

They play West Ham at the weekend in what is a must win game for the Reds.
