Mark Hughes has called his new team Fulham as a 'good fit'.

Hughes takes over at Fulham from Roy Hodgson, who is now at Liverpool, in what will be his first managerial post since leaving Manchester City last season.

Hughes has signed a two year contract at the club and is looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead but is glad to be getting back to work.

Speaking to Sky Sports he said: "I made the decision that this is the right club for me at this time," said Hughes. "It feels a good fit."

"The attraction obviously, is the opportunity to get back into work. I needed to get back to work. The situation with Fulham was maybe the perception I had of Fulham's ambitions."

And the new manager is aiming for a top ten finish for the club this year, two spots higher than the twelfth place where they finished at the end of last season.

"We don't have the distraction of the Europa League," he said. That's a big ask when you're involved in that competition. We had that experience the year before at City.

"I think the fact we haven't got that this year is a bonus. If we can get into the top 10 this year, that'll be good progress.

Fulham have a friendly match against Werder Bremen at the weekend before kicking off the new season away from home at Bolton on 14th August.
