England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has indicated that he will change his formation to enable him to play Michael Owen in the team against Northern Ireland.

Eriksson experiments with the 4-5-1 formation in the 1-0 win over Wales but he is likely to revert back to 4-4-2 now Owen is available following suspension.

Erikson is adamant Michael Owen will bring goals.

Owen has barely played so far this season after moving from Real Madrid to Newcastle on the final day of the transfer window.

His absence against Wales had Eriksson playing Wayne Rooney as a lone striker, with Beckham flanked by Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard in the centre of midfield. with Joe Cole and Shaun Wright-Phillips the wide midfielders.

Which is were the face saving goal came from for England's winner in, with Stephen Gerrard admitting substitutions late in the game had made it even harder for the players to adjust to the new system.

He was asked to play in three different positions, saying after the match that it takes time in a match to get used to the one position.

Despite demanding an overall improvement from his team, Eriksson went to great lengths to point out that he was happy with the way his players adapted to the new style, particularly following the 4-1 defeat by Denmark.

"At least we know we can play like this. We knew Wales would play 5-3-2 and that's one reason we did it.

The England manager said the formation had worked well for more than an hour, though through lack of ball possesion the system started to breakdown.

The worry for Eriksson was the lack of form from Frank Lampard, the Chelsea star has not found his best form yet.

The Manager must have been pleased with the performance of Wright-Phillips who played in Cole for the winner, saying he was satisfied with the contributions of the Chelsea duo before withdrawing them in the second half.
