Roberto Mancini has revealed that he has had no contact with Wayne Rooney.
Manchester City are rumoured to be just one club interested in signing the Manchester United striker after Alex Ferguson revealed yesterday that Rooney would not sign a new contract at the club.
And while speculation about Rooney's future continues to rumble on Mancini was adamant that he had not spoken to Rooney about a a possible move to Eastlands.
When asked this question at a press conference he said: "No. Never."
Mancini went on to say that he though Rooney would stay at Old Trafford."Rooney is a great player but I think he'll stay at United. He's a good player, he's an important player for United.
"He is a United player. It's not correct to speak about that situation. I have respect for him, for Ferguson, for United. I want to speak only about my players.
"It's not my problem. I'm City manager. I have a lot of problems with my players. It's important for me to focus on tomorrow's Europa League game.
"He is a strong player like (Fernando) Torres, like (Lionel) Messi, like Carlos Tevez, like (Mario) Balotelli. This is my opinion."
Manchester City are in Europa League action tomorrow night as they face a home game against Lech Poznan, who currently top group A.
