Roberto Mancini Wants Break For Tevez

Roberto Mancini has revealed that he is on the verge of asking Argentina to not call up Carlos Tevez for international duty so often.

The City manager is worried about the toll that all the travelling for Argentina's games is having on his star striker, who has flown home while he recovers from a thigh injury.

Speaking to Sky Sports the Manchester City boss said: "International football is a problem for Carlos. Argentina don't play games in Europe but in South America, Japan or Australia and this makes it difficult for him," said Mancini.

"He arrived back from the last international break tired. He needs time to recover.

"Argentina have a friendly against Brazil in November, but I hope for that game he can stay here. It would be better for him and his country."

Tevez, who is the lead scorer for City so far this season, picked up the injury during the cub's defeat to Arsenal at the weekend.

And while he will be missing for their clash Wolves on Saturday it is hoped that the skipper will be ready to face old club Manchester United in the derby the weekend after.

Earlier this week it was suggested that Tevez was homesick and could leave the club to return to Argentina but Mancini has admitted that he was not worried by this report.

"I don't know whether he will stay here for the next 10 years or return to Argentina then, but I'm not worried by it at the moment."
