Ryan Giggs is the 2011 Golden Foot winner. The Welshman, iconic Manchester United FC midfielder, has received the highest number of votes among the ten nominees chosen by the International jury.

In order, he beat Javier Zanetti, Samuel Eto’o and Xavi Hernandez.

Giggs wins the golden mould with diamonds stars after being candidate for years and thanks to an extraordinary career, now celebrated by the Principality of Monaco.

After receiving the award by the hands of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, Giggs has left his footprints on the Champions Promenade, the Walk of Fame of International football in the Principality seafront.

It has been an extraordinary season for Giggs at Manchester United as he remins a crucial part of the squad at the age of thirty seven.

During his time at Old Trafford has has won twelve Premier League titles, two Champions league titles and four FA Cup titles.

The Golden Foot promoter comitee has chosen Argentinian champion Javier Zanetti for the prestigious career award as International football legend.

This is the reason: "Javier Zanetti is a living legend for his victories on the pitch, the more than 1,000 matches played as professional, the all-time record for appearances with FC Internazionale and his famous fair-play".

Zanetti becomes the fifth Argentinian to receive Golden Foot award after Diego Armando Maradona (2003), Alfredo Di Stéfano (2004), Mario Kempes (2007) and Francisco Varallo (2010). He has been awarded with four other legends: Luis Figo (Portugal), Ruud Gullit (Holland), Rabah Madjer (Algeria) e Abedì Pelé (Ghana).
