Steven Gerrard Says Liverpool Could Have Got The Win

Steven Gerrard believes that Liverpool could have beaten Manchester United at Anfield yesterday.
The Liverpool skipper returned to the team for the first time in seven months after being sidelined with injury - and he made the perfect return as he got Liverpool’s goal.
The game didn’t really liven up until the second half when Gerrard scored from a free kick - sneaking the ball past Ryan Giggs and the rest of the United wall.
They needed to hang on just ten more minutes when Javier Hernandez got away from his marker during a free kick to get the equaliser.
It was Liverpool who finished the stronger side as they had three clear cut chances to go ahead again with both Kuyt and Henderson testing De Gea.
And Gerrard believed that Liverpool could have snatched a winner in the dying minutes of the match.
Speaking to The Sun after the match Gerard said: "I'm sure our fans will feel a little bit hard done by with the chances at the end, we could have nicked it.
"Before the game our aim was to close the gap and get it to three points.
"The free-kick wasn't the best, the intention was to get it over the wall, but a couple of years ago at Old Trafford the same thing happened, the wall split.
"Maybe it's just the bit of luck I was looking for in my first game back.
"When you're out and sitting watching these games, there's nothing worse. To be out there experiencing the emotions again was fantastic and hopefully I can stay fit for the rest of the season now."
Liverpool currently lie in fifth just a single point behind Newcastle, who will take on Tottenham later this afternoon, while Manchester United have slipped to second, two points behind Manchester City.
