Sven Goran Eriksson Denies Beckham Links

Sven Goran Eriksson has shot down reports that he is trying to bring David Beckham to his new club Leicester City.

The former England manager has just taken over at the Championship side and while he is not chasing his former captain he did say that Beckham would be welcome at the club.

Speaking to The Sun the new Leicester manager said: "The story should be killed at once because it will not happen.

"There is nothing in it, but I can tell you that if David wants to come here to play football then he is more than welcome.

"If he wants to come, then come, but I doubt that he wants to play in the Championship. I haven't spoken to him for a long time but I can easily do that.

"I doubt that he is going to go on loan because last year there was a lot of criticism from fans and things like that."

David Beckham currently plays his football at LA Galaxy but has enjoyed two loan spells at AC Milan. However he is still working on his fitness after rupturing his Achilles tendon back in march, an injury that ruled him out of this summer's world cup.
