Wayne Rooney insists that he is happy with his fitness despite another frustrating night in an England shirt.
The Manchester United striker was on international duty earlier this week as England took on Montenegro in their third Euro 2012 qualifier.
But once again it was a difficult night for England as they failed to break down the Montenegro defence, Rooney having the best two chances of the match.
At Manchester United, Rooney was left out of the side against Sunderland and against Valencia with Alex Ferguson hinting that he was struggling with an ankle injury.
However Rooney has revealed that he has not missed a training session in the last two months and has no fitness problems.
Speaking to The London Evening Standard the striker said: "I felt sharp. I had a couple of chances; maybe I could have done better with the first.
"But I thought the keeper did well with the second one. I have been training for the last two months, where I haven't missed a session. I have no problems with my fitness."
It's been a difficult start to the season for Rooney as he his personal life spilled over onto the front pages of newspapers and on the pitch he has struggled to find the back of the net.
And while England were booed off on Tuesday evening Rooney defending their performance: "It was a difficult game.
"They had a lot of men behind the ball and were well organised. But we kept going and created chances; maybe we should have done better with them but I thought the keeper did well.
"In the end it's a bonus we never got beat, because they had a shot against the bar in the final moments. But we're still unbeaten in the group, at least that's a positive. It wasn't bad, I thought we deserved to win."
