Wayne Rooney Out Of Valencia Clash

Wayne Rooney will miss out on the trip to Spain to face Valencia in the Champions League after injuring his ankle at the weekend.

The Manchester United striker was substituted during their 2-2 draw with Bolton at the weekend and Rooney received treatment to his left ankle when he left the pitch.

Alex Ferguson was confident of Rooney's recovery for the match tomorrow however he will miss out, the club's website did however say that they didn't think the injury was serious.

Rooney has looked a shadow of the player that he was last season as he has struggled under with all the media attention since stories surrounding his private life hit the headlines.

And Rooney is not the only player to miss out tomorrow night as Paul Scholes has also not made the trip into Europe as he is being rested by the manager.

Ryan Giggs is also out of action as he suffered an injury to his hamstring at the weekend and he will not play for two to three weeks.

Manchester United will be looking for an improved performance from their opening group match against Rangers when they could only manage a 0-0 draw.

Valencia currently lead Group C after a win over Bursaspor in their opening fixture.
